I listen to a lot of soundtracks and show stuff, they help with the writing. I
have, for example, Gladiator, LOTR, Smallville, Roswell, Kingdom of Heaven, Charmed, Les Miserables, FF games, Phantom of the Opera... the
list goes on.
Music taste? Fairly eclectic. I'll listen to music depending on my mood. Prefer stuff I can sing to, and actually prefer individual songs rather than
"bands". I also like instrumental music. Give me a good cello piece and I'm yours for supper. CDs that end up in the stacker a lot include:
1927
Amici Forever
Breaking Benjamin
Clannad
Dead Can Dance
Disturbed
Enya
Evanescence
Jewel
Linkin Park
Loreena McKennitt
Muse
Seether
Tears For Fears
The Corrs
Three Day's Grace
Van Halen
Vivaldi
Within Temptation
Really. I'm too mature to be obssessive. But aren't they lover-ly?
Well, most of the stuff I watch, TV-wise, is on DVD. TV irks me, but I'll watch a few of the current ones. I call them
"Wentworth", "Jensen", "Chris" and "Rob". I should probably call them Prison Break, Supernatural, Oz/L&O:SVU and
Numbers. Whatever. I'm regressing. It's about time. :)
Very fond of most British comedy (Benny Hill being the exception to that rule). Dylan Moran and Bill Bailey--frippin' brilliant.
Black Books
Cadfael
Charmed
Cold Case
CSI (I like the original best, but the others'll do, too)
Firefly
Ghost Whisperer
Law & Order - CI and SVU in particular
Michael Wood docos -- chose one, I'll watch 'em all
Numb3rs
Oz
Prison Break
Quantum Leap
Queer As Folk
Scrubs
Sliders
Smallville
Spaced
Supernatural
The A-Team
The Goodies
The Unit
Twin Peaks
Xena
Film is so subjective, that some films I like one day I won't like another day (most "chick flicks" fall into this category). Buuut... there
are always some I will never dislike, and never seem to be not in the "mood" to watch:
12 Angry Men (the original)
Adaptation
Advent Children -- okay, you have to be a FF fan, but Reno, Rude, Vinnie? Yeah. 'Nuff said.
Anime -- I just like it.
Batman Begins (Bale is the best Batman ever. No contest)
Bill and Ted (both films)
Crash (f'ing disturbing but so close to truth it's scary)
Ferris Bueller
Gladiator (yeah. I don't know either)
Hayao Miyazaki Films (He made such films as Nausica and Howl's Moving Castle, among others. Just...brilliant)
High Fidelity (or anything with John Cusack, really. Funny man)
Last of the Mohicans
Napoleon Dynamite
Phantom of the Opera (Gerry Butler, of course)
POTC (all, but I think the writers cheated a lot with 2 & 3)
Practical Magic
Rear Window (the original)
Serenity (okay, I can say "bandwagon" :-P)
Seven Brides For Seven Brothers (all dancing with axes. Oh, yes)
The Human Stain
The Lake House (I do have exceptions ;-) )
The Muppets--any of them
The Notebook (beautiful story. Just watch it)
The Outsiders (don't... ask...)
The Princess Bride
Underworld
Velvet Goldmine
I'm not kidding when I say that Bale is one of the more brilliant actors around. The word is "versatility", folks. Gerry is nice to watch and has
the whole Glaswegian accent going on, but Bale... even Reign of Fire is aaaaalmost bearable because... well... actually Bale and Butler. Hm.
And again... hm. British eye candy. Accept no substitutes.
Oh. I hate, detest, cannot stand one film, which I will not name. But if "William Wallace" gives you a clue.... I love William Wallace. He lived in
the era I love and studied, in a country I feel deeply about. Which is why I hate the film. The man was infinitely more brilliant than he was
portrayed. And the historical inaacuracies... lost me in the first five minutes and went steadily downhill from there. There was no Wallace in that film. At
all. And as for the hackjob done on Rob Bruce... and the events of the day... and... actually, it didn't get one single detail correct. No, wait... there
was one. Wallace was, in fact, hung, drawn and quartered. That is all. Geebus fracking Fluffy. What the fuck, Gibson?
Oh, and will people stop demonising/magician-ifying the Knights Templar? For pity's sake, these boys were monks, not sorcerers, and the last gen
died under the most horrific tortures imaginable. And only less than 10% of them were fighting force, the rest were farmers, clerics, the guy who mucked out
the horses' stables and shore the sheep, accountants... and desptie the capitulation of their last GM, stood under the Inquisition, illegally ordered to
death by the church they spent 200 years protecting. Leave them alone.
Think it's about time storytellers found themselves some new stereotypes, wot?

Life without creative pursuit is a life lived with one foot in the grave. Mankind is built to create. If we're not allowed to be creative, we'll
create destruction instead. ~ Me.
Back at school... back at school... I am back at schooool... yup, an undergrad at UQ, so less writing novels, more writing essays. Heh. Should be fun. Wheeee.

And I've added this vid, Cee showed it to me a while back and I still get a kick out of it. And yes, Rob, you are cool. Really. Cos all geeks are. Seriously, I love this boy. And does anyone else think he looks a bit like Ben Burnley in that Breaking Benjamin pic I have up there? Huh.
Human behaviour flows from three main sources: desire, emotion, and knowledge ~ Plato
I never liked anybody who didn't have a temper. If you don't have a temper, you
don't have any passion ~ Michael Bloomberg on 20/20
Don't be afraid to dream big. Dream small and you probably won't succeed. You might succeed by accident, but you won't be prepared for success. Dreams (and
imagination) are the primate's way of preparing for things that haven't happened yet. Be prepared. Be bold. ~ Sean Williams
Even in literature and art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas
if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever
having noticed it. ~ C.S. Lewis
The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art
and science. ~ Albert Einstein
[To an editor that has just rejected his ms] I'm afraid your letter is most
unsuitable for me at the present time, as I've just spent the entire weekend writing the novel you have summarily rejected. I can only presume
that it is company policy to reject all manuscripts not submitted in ten-foot high braille. ~ Dylan Moran, Black Books Extras
"Isms", in my opinion, are not good. A person should not believe in an "ism". He should believe in himself. ~ Ferris

Ah, I really love when other people make great images. I'm still learning myself, but I can definitely appreciate other peoples' far superior skills when it comes to anything graphics-related :)
Thank you for the kudo!
